Comparison

Aveela compared with Clypp

Clypp and Aveela are both hosted in the EU and both generate documentation with AI - but they do different jobs. Clypp turns video recordings into work instructions, SOPs and trainings and, by its own account, is designed specifically for industrial teams. Aveela is built for the handover from agency to client: a separate, separately branded space per client, two flat-price plans instead of a per-user licence, and your clients read without an account of their own.

Capturing

Aveela

Browser extension as a side panel: record a use case - you click through the workflow once and the extension keeps every screen, dialogs and menus included - or collect individual screenshots, full page or a selected region. You pick the target space up front; the AI writes a page draft with steps and images from it. It captures what happens in the browser - no video.

Clypp

Video first: film processes with a smartphone or camera, record your screen, or upload existing material such as PowerPoint files. Clypp runs in the browser with nothing to install; Clypp also states native apps for iOS and Android and a Chrome extension.

What you end up with

Aveela

A page inside a multi-page space - with navigation, a media library, a block editor and language versions without duplicating pages.

Clypp

An edited video with AI voiceover and captions in more than 100 languages, noise removal and zooms. From it Clypp generates SOPs with images, trainings with quizzes and progress tracking, and BPMN process models.

Delivering it to your clients

Aveela

One space per client, published as a portal: logo and colours per space, access public, via a share link, or behind a login with invitations - decided per space. Your clients read public spaces and share links without an account of their own. White-label under your own subdomain on the Agency plan.

Clypp

Sharing inside the workspace via protected links, and outside it via public links, QR code or embedding in other systems. On the free entry level the platform carries Clypp branding; a custom platform design and a customised space with its own domain are listed under "Enterprise". Separately branded portals per client are not mentioned on the pages linked below.

Billing

Aveela

Two flat-price plans instead of a per-user licence, limited by spaces, pages, storage, AI generations and team seats. Your readers never take up a paid seat. 14 days free to try; there is no permanently free plan.

Clypp

The pricing page names two levels: a free entry level with no credit card and up to 5 seats, presented as a 14-day trial, and "Enterprise" with a licence per user beyond 5 members. The Enterprise price is agreed in a call; the pricing page states no fixed price.

Hosting and data protection

Aveela

Servers and database in Germany, media files in the EU, AI features through a European provider, a data processing agreement as standard, no third-country transfer. Your content is never used to train models.

Clypp

The two are close here: Clypp states that it hosts its platform and data exclusively on servers in the EU, and states ISO 27001 certification and GDPR compliance. The pages linked below do not name a specific country for the servers.

Where Clypp is the better choice

  • You document work on machines or on the shop floor - processes you have to film because they do not happen on a screen. That is what Clypp is built for; Aveela only captures what happens in the browser.
  • Your deliverable should be a video: with AI voiceover, captions and translation into more than 100 languages. Aveela does not produce videos.
  • You want to train employees and track their learning progress - with trainings, quizzes and certificates, which Clypp lists under "Enterprise" on its pricing page. Aveela is not a learning tool.
  • You want to embed instructions in SAP, Microsoft Teams or Jira: Clypp states integrations for these, Aveela has none.

In short

Clypp and Aveela are less competitors than tools for two different jobs. Clypp trains employees by video and, by its own account, is designed specifically for industrial teams. Aveela hands software and websites over to clients: a separate, separately branded space per client that your clients read without an account of their own, at a flat price per plan instead of a per-user licence. EU hosting is a given with both, and therefore no reason to pick one over the other.
