Comparison
Aveela compared with HappySupport
HappySupport and Aveela both turn a workflow you click through once into a finished article - but they do different jobs. HappySupport is a help centre for software vendors documenting their own product: it detects what changed in a release, suggests matching article updates and answers customer questions with AI. Aveela is built for agencies documenting for their clients: a separate, separately branded space per client - 5 spaces on the €19 plan, 25 on the €59 plan, per month and net. According to its pricing page HappySupport starts at €129 a month with one help centre; it lists a custom domain and custom branding from €399.

Capturing
Aveela
Browser extension as a side panel: record a use case - you click through the workflow once and the extension keeps every screen, dialogs and menus included - or collect individual screenshots, full page or a selected region. You pick the target space up front; the AI writes a page draft with steps and images from it. Recording works in the browser only; there is no desktop app.
HappySupport
The HappySupport Recorder captures a workflow while you click through it and turns it into a finished help article. You can talk while recording; your explanation feeds into the article as context. The recorder comes as a Chrome extension and as a Windows app for desktop software; a Mac app is announced as "coming soon". From "Professional" upwards it connects to your codebase: HappySupport detects what changed in a release and suggests matching article updates. Automatic screenshot updates are announced on the pricing page.
What you end up with
Aveela
A page inside a multi-page space - with navigation, a media library, a block editor and language versions without duplicating pages.
HappySupport
A help centre with articles, categories and navigation. From the same content HappySupport feeds an internal knowledge base, a help widget inside your product, AI answers to customer questions (from "Professional"), in-app banners (on "Scale") and a ticket inbox. Articles are translated automatically into more than 12 languages, including the text in the screenshots; each plan includes 1, 5 or 10 additional languages.
Delivering it to your clients
Aveela
One space per client, published as a portal: logo and colours per space on every plan, access public, via a share link, or behind a login with invitations - decided per space. Your clients read public spaces and share links without an account of their own. White-label under your own subdomain on the Agency plan.
HappySupport
Several separate help centres are possible, each with its own articles, branding and access setting. The pricing page lists 1 help centre on "Starter", 3 on "Professional" and 5 on "Scale"; an unlimited number is named in one of the vendor's help articles for an Enterprise plan, which the pricing page lists as an individual quote. A custom domain and custom branding appear on the pricing page from "Professional". Access: public, individual private articles via link, a shared password from "Professional", SSO on "Scale". Whether each help centre gets its own domain, and whether the HappySupport notice can be removed, the pages linked below do not say.
Billing
Aveela
Two flat-price plans: €19 a month with 5 spaces, €59 a month with 25 spaces, both net. Limited by spaces, pages, storage, AI generations and team seats; your readers never take up a paid seat. 14 days free to try, no credit card; there is no permanently free plan.
HappySupport
Also a flat price per plan rather than per user: "Starter" €129, "Professional" €399 and "Scale" €899 a month, as shown on the pricing page. Limited by active articles (50, 300 or 750; each further 100 for €89 a month), help centres, users (1, 5 or 10) and AI answers. Every plan can be tried for 14 days with the scope of "Scale" and no credit card; higher volumes come as an individual Enterprise quote.
Hosting and data protection
Aveela
Servers and database in Germany, media files in the EU, AI features through Mistral AI with processing in the EU, a data processing agreement as standard, no third-country transfer. Your content is never used to train models.
HappySupport
The privacy policy names Amazon Web Services in Frankfurt and Netcup in Germany for hosting and data storage. For the AI features - AI search, content generation and translations - it lists OpenAI, L.L.C., located in the USA, covered by the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and a data processing agreement, with no training on customer data.
Where HappySupport is the better choice
- You document your own software product and want the help to keep pace with every release: HappySupport connects to your codebase and suggests matching article updates after changes. Aveela has no connection to code.
- You want a support suite from one source - AI answers to customer questions, a ticket inbox, a help widget and banners inside your product. Aveela is a documentation tool without support features.
- You also document Windows programs outside the browser and would rather explain out loud while recording: HappySupport states a Windows app and voice commentary for that. Aveela records in the browser only.
- Your help should be translated automatically into many languages, text in the screenshots included. In Aveela, translations are created as drafts in the editor.
- Your readers should sign in through your company's identity provider: HappySupport lists SSO on "Scale" on its pricing page. Aveela offers login with invitations, but no SSO.
In short
HappySupport and Aveela are less competitors than tools for two different jobs. HappySupport is a software vendor's help centre for its own product, with updates after releases and support features, from €129 a month; more than one help centre, a custom domain and branding are listed on the pricing page from €399. Aveela is built for agencies documenting for many clients: a separate, separately branded space per client - 5 for €19, 25 for €59 a month, both net - that your clients read without an account of their own. On hosting both name data centres in Germany; AI runs through Mistral AI in the EU at Aveela, and through OpenAI in the USA at HappySupport according to its privacy policy.
